Statement

Two themes are central in my works of art. The human being and the landscape. My works don’t portray the existing reality. The atmosphere in the landscapes is more important than the details. The portraits of the human beings come from my imagination. They don’t seem to belong in the present time. They often are placed in a theatrical background of curtains or the background is a piece of a circus tent. They remind you of clowns, jesters and theatre. I use two different ways of painting in water colours. I use the technique of painting in layers of structures and colours with a brush number 0. The different layers over each other generate the final colours. I also use the technique of painting in water colours in a more impulsive and easy style.
